My latests layouts

Hi everybody! I have had a couple of stressful weeks and have not had much time for scrapping. We have moved to a bigger apartment but unfortunately it was (and is still) not completely finished. While we are waiting for the last things to be fixed we are living in boxes... OMG I hate that!!!

Well, I have sort of finished furnishing my office/scraproom and at least that is somewhere nice to sit and ponder on lifes big mysteries - and of course to digiscrap :) All we need now is some curtains - Spring is comming and the sun is quite anoying sometimes.

Although I have been terribly busy trying to unpack at least some of our things, I have made some new LOs for challenges and I have been on a great Digi-course yesterday.

The first Danish Digital Cyber Crop

On saturday the 28th of February Scrapsisters.dk held the very first digital cyber crop in Denmark and I had a blast.

There were 4 challenges throughout the day - one of them being a speed challenge. That one really got my pulse racing. Who needs fitnessmachines when we have got speed scrapping!

Take a look at what I managed to produce during the crop:

Challenge 1: A template challenge

Journal: I love snow. I love sun. I love snow and sun
together - it makes everything incredibly beautiful.

Challenge 3 - Technique challenge

and you can see her gallery here.

And here is mine twisted around a bit as the challenge requested
Layout: "Dream & Sleep"
Journal: There are a lot of things that I tressure but one of
my favorite things is my bed. I had wanted one just like it
for a long time and finally I got it. Combined with my dream-
cather, it gives me nothing but wonderful nights.
Kit (inkl alpha): Express Yourself by Dawn Inskip
Pagemask: Pagemasks2 af Vinnie Pearce

All
in all I had a fabulous day with my digi friends and in the end my number came up and I won the big prize: Photoshop Elements 7.0 so I'll be upgrading very soon :)

I have plenty more to share with you but that will have to be tomorrow - right now I am off to bed before it will be too late. The Polish builders working on our building begins at 8am sharp - we call it our Polish Alarmclock... Drilling, hammering, yelling and screaming! Oh joy!

Challenge at scrapsisters.dk

We have the coolest forum here in Denmark Scrapsisters.dk and the other day one of the digi-editors came up with a great challenge. To make a digital interpretation of a traditional paper layout.

The original paper layout by Gluestickgirl.

A trip to the ZOO

My df and I have some friends in Jutland and several times each year their teenagedaughter spends a week or so with us. She calls us her "not-so-parentlike-extra-parents"

This time we went to the Copenhagen ZOO on a freezing cold day. I took tons of photos and I am looking forward to scrapping a lot of them - especially some funny girafe-pictures.

For now I have made a layout with for this weeks CAF-E! with Nicole challenge using a very funny polar bear photo.

Kits: Nicole Young, Love Is In the Air + AddOn
Alpha: MissMint Alpha Roughed Up Black + Pink

Tomorrow I am going to my very first digital scrapbooking course. I am looking forward to it because I am completely self taught and maybe I could be doing something differently - I know I would like to learn more about brushes... Bye for now :)

New blog, new look and new header

I have had been on the verge of throwing myself on the floor, crying, over my old blog. I couldn't get it to accept my header no matter what I did (the very same header that is on this blog with no problem at all). So what I have decided is that my old blog in Danish is going to stay white and boring (HA) and this new one is going to be all pretty and nice!

I made a header using some of Nicole Youngs super duper kits - you must be getting tired of me rambling about her all the time - sorry ;)

Since I have not decided on the colorscheme yet you will have to wait for that part!

The result of a trip in a broken down IC4 train

Yesterday we were going home to Copenhagen, from Jutland by train... Our brand new IC4-train. A big scandal in Denmark by the way... Big trains designed by a Ferrari-designer, made in Italy and 4-5 years late on delivery - and they do not work!!! We a mad here - yes we are!

Well we were on the train and it broke down once - got fixed - and broke down again. This time they could not fix it. There was a little man from Italy on the train and despite of him running up and down, nothing happened and they kicked us off in the middle of nowhere to wait for another train... And all this on a day when it was snowing (it almost never does), it was pure misery.

So what to do with all the extra time that suddenly came to me? Well someone wise would have brought a laptop and some kits... And for once I was one of those wise people!

I managed to make a couple of layouts. One was just to practice working the wand ind Photoshop and ended up being a little tribute to my old cat Bella. The first one of two who had cancer within 18 months. (Now the last one just have to keep away from that cancer sh*t) The kit is designed by Kim Liddiard and called Citrus Smoothie.

The second layout I made is for this weeks Caf-E! with Nicole challenge at digitalscrapbookplace.com. In celebration of Valentines Day the kit was Calling Cupid by Nicole Young. I guess I do not have to point out that it ended up reeeeaaal romantic. Not something I am famous for but hey then it is a first ;) The couple kissing on the photo is me and my dearest at my brothers wedding.

I think I found my favorite designer!

Now I have been doing a lot of digital scrapping because I have this course in a few weeks and also pushed myself a bit by doing different challenges. As I wrote last time I have had good feedback but I have been nervous that it should only be beginners luck...

I have bought quite a few kits and trawled through the net to find the best and I can say that I have found it. For me the kits designed by Nicole Young is really special and I can see endless possibilities in them. So much to explore in her world. Pure fairytale and romance.

Here is the latest layouts I made for challenges:

This LO had the topic "If I had 100 extra..."
Kit: Heaven Sent by Nicole Young

The idea here was to make a 7-word-bio which was to be the
focalpoint Colors and elements should underline me as a person
and what inspires me. A wonderful challenge that made me
use my imagination.

Inspirering Nicole Young and a little Angel

Digital Scrapbook Place Designer Nicole Young have an ongoing challenge at digitalscrapbookplace.com called Caf-E! with Nicole. I decided to jump into the deep water and join in. It would be my first digi-challenge but what the heck, right...

This week the kit was Heaven Sent and it was simply beautiful and inspirering. I was super nervous when I uploaded my layout becouse everybody at Digital Scrapbook Place is super talented and I am a total n00b. Luckily I had good feedback :)

Here is my layout with Balder whom I am sure has had his wings by now and therefore was a perfect fit for this kit and the style.

Was he not a complete beauty? He always knew how to make good photos.

Some family history

My grandfathers sister died young, tragically. She and her fiancé Georg died in a motorcycle accident. It was a deep sorrow my grandfather carried with him his entire life. Destiny made it so that Georg took a photograph of the whole family just a few months before it happened. This picture was very precious to my grandfather and now it is an important part of my life too.

For a long, long time I have wanted to make a layout with a copy of the photo but I have never had the paper and things that was "just right" for a picture that special. I found what I was looking for digitally. I can make new ones over and over again - and maybe one day I will have an idea about what I want to do with the photo.

The title and journaling is in danish but here is wat it says:
Title: The last Christmas together
Hejl Family, Christmas 1934. "The photo was taken on Christmas day.
The year after, in June, the oldest daughter Mie died suddenly in a
motorcycle accident with her fiancé Georg.

I like this one myself actually. I think I have made it connect over the ages. I used a kit by Marcee Duggar called Aged Rose (simply beautiful) and a lace matte I found somewhere but cannot remember.

---o0o---

Oh dear, I can just go on and on when something has caught my interrest. It is 3.30 am and I have just made one more digital layout. It is not wonderful but I enjoy working with the different techniques. I have not used a specific kit for this LO but simply mixed and matched as I would in paper. Lots of fun.

But now I really need to sleep ;)
